AN OPEN LETTER to Dr Bernard Grech Leader of the Nationalist Party and Leader of the Opposition Malta

 Dear Dr Bernard Grech,

In an article on the 9th January 2022 published online in Lovin Malta, you have been quoted as stating the following.

Robert Abela seems to think that after the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, Malta needs to reform journalism. While PN looks forward to debating any Bill presented by the government, we need to start by fighting corruption, impunity and abuse of office,”

The Nationalist Party has a long history of the qualities you want to fight for. I am sure that the majority of the Maltese nation agrees with you, especially me.

However, you must also make sure that you will take the lead by cleaning out the Nationalist Party of corruption, impunity, abuse of office and nepotism.

I am therefore taking the opportunity to ask you to look into my request to hold Mario Galea MP accountable for his involvement in my frame up conducted and organised by Corrupt Disgraced former EU Commissioner John Dalli.

On 15th November 1999 Corrupt Disgraced former EU Commissioner John Dalli had me arrested for circulating anonymous letters to defame him.

On 16th November 1999 at approximately 2.00am Mario Galea, was involved in a serious car accident on St Ann's Street, Floriana. The police attended and found hundreds of anonymous letters in his vehicle. The incident was captured in the USA Embassy CCTV I was in police custody at the time.

On 17th November 1999, John Dalli had me arraigned in court and pressed criminal charges against me claiming that I had produced and distributed 20,000 anonymous letters to defame him.

Mario Galea's accident and the evidence were covered up by the then PM Dr Eddie Fenech Adami and the police. Covering up a crime is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE.

Furthermore, on 16th March 2000, Prime Minister Dr Eddie Fenech Adami had the audacity to accuse the Labour Party of being involved in the production and distributing of the anonymous letters.

Although Mario Galea had been caught on 16th November 1999 with hundreds of letters in his vehicle he also had the audacity to bring the case up in parliament accusing the opposition of their involvement in producing and sending the anonymous letters.

An investigation by the auditor general absolved the Labour Party of any wrongdoing.

Despite the fact that the police had confirmed that the stationery used came from parliament and that there were several different handwritings on the envelopes, none of which were mine, the police, John Dalli and Dr Eddie Fenech Adami failed to drop the charges against me.

It was Corrupt Disgraced former EU Commissioner John Dalli who organised the production and distribution of the anonymous letters. John Dalli had the motive and the resources to commit such a crime.

After nearly four years of criminal proceedings, I was acquitted of all the charges brought against me. John Dalli colluded with the police, Mario Galea and others to frame me.

Life was made so difficult for me and my family that we had no option but to return to the UK permanently.

People like John Dalli and Mario Galea should not be allowed to enjoy impunity and abuse of office like they have been for many years. They must be held accountable for their actions.

John Dalli, being the hypocrite and bully he has always been, falsely and maliciously framed and accused me in revenge because I reported his involvement in the Daewoo scandal to Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami and the police.

At the time there was so much political corruption and nepotism that the only way to distract people's attention from the real issues was for Dr Eddie Fenech Adami to bring forward Malta's application to join the EU.

The electorate voted to join the EU with the hope of controlling the political corruption of the time.

Considering what has happened in recent years the electorate was grossly mistaken. As you continuously point out political corruption has gone out of control during the period Disgraced former PM Joseph Muscat was in office.

It seems that no improvement is going to happen in the near future as cover-ups are bound to continue.

On 20th July 2021 in an article published on Lovin Malta although it is full of lies, one item John Dalli was correct about was “I am informed that the anonymous letters were printed in a stationary in Mosta and were mailed in envelopes that came from the House of Representatives. I am informed that a Nationalist MP had an accident in Floriana and the police found hundreds of these letters in his car boot”. That MP was Mario Galea.

The links below will give you a full explanation of the unjust and ill-treatment my family and I were forced through for many years.

I shall be visiting Malta in the near future. Due to the corrupt manner in which I have been treated over the years, I will be continuously looking over my shoulder hoping that I will not end up like Daphne Caruana Galizia, Wilfred Cardona, Nardu Debono, Richard Cachia Caruana, Lino Gauchi and others.

I look forward to your urgent reply.

Yours sincerely,

Joseph Ellul-Grech
